Mónaco la peleo pero no pudo con Davydenko

BUENOS AIRES, nov 05 (DyN) - El tandilense Juan Mónaco dio pelea sin alcanzarle para vencer al ruso Nikolay Davydenko, quien lo eliminó en la segunda ronda del abierto de tenis de Valencia por 6-3 y 7-5.

Davydenko, 7 del mundo, ganó sin problemas el primer set pero tuvo que lidiar en el segundo con Mónaco (30), a quien recién pudo aventajar en el undécimo set cuando quebró en momentos que estaban igualados en 5, para llevarse el partido con su servicio tras 1 hora y 42 minutos.

El ruso sumó su tercer triunfo sobre Mónaco, que solo pudo imponerse una vez en los choques entre sí.

Davydenko se medirá en cuartos de final con el español Guillermo García López (47), quien el miércoles en último turno sorprendió al eliminar al francés Gael Monfils por 6-2 y 7-5.

El correntino Leonardo Mayer es el único argentino que queda en carrera que en el próximo turno tendrá la difícil tarea de enfrentar al escocés Andy Murray, 4 del mundo y primer preclasificado aquí.
